A Different 50 Podcast

Feb 8, 2018

This is a quick introduction of A Different 50 Podcast Featuring Donna and Leslie.

It was 1967, the year of country-wide race riots, O.J Simpson was America's college football hero, and Elvis Presley married Priscilla Beaulieu. The median household income in the US was approx. $7200/yr., the US divorce rate was 26%, and then U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law several civil rights bills intended to end discrimination as well as passed the Voting Rights Act to prohibit certain requirements in southern states used to disenfranchise African Americans.

Fast forward 0 years into 2017……the Women’s march sought to advocate legislation and policies for human rights and other issues, including women's rights, immigration reform and healthcare, O.J. Simpson, well do we need to relive his murder trial, exoneration and eventual incarceration for stupidity, and Jay-Z and Bey and Kimye saturate the worlds of music, fashion and whatever it is the Kardashian's do. The median household income is $59000/yr, the US divorce rate is anywhere between 35%-45%, and the current clown in the white house has created an atmosphere of divisiveness, racism and elitism.

So although much has changed, much has stayed the same……its just DIFFERENT and we’re living ‘a different 50!”

A different 50 is a contemporary discussion of life and all it entails from the perspective of two of today's 50 year old black women.
